How to Clip Your Horse
When clipping you need to think quite carefully what you are going to wear. This means sensible shoes, clothing that isn’t fleecy to avoid hairs sticking to you and a hat to keep your hair back. A riding hat may be sensible if the horse is a problem horse.
You can clip indoors or outdoors. If raining indoors is better but the horse may be more comfortable outside.
To prepare the horse for clipping you need to remove all grease or mud by cleaning the coat.
Before using the clippers set the tension, make sure the blades are sharp and oil them well.
Take to the horse gently and when clipping long strokes will provide a more even result. Take your time. Wipe horse down when finished and make sure you rug up
Clean the clippers by brushing off all the hairs and put them away
Best to have your clippers serviced annually.
